Welcome aboard! Sit back and over the next few minutes, I will take you to Dalian’s absolute must-sees—those things that you will regret not doing. Take out a cup of tea, sit back, and let us stroll along sea roads, squares, cliffs, and hidden courtyards that silently make Dalian irreplaceable.

1. Feel the Vastness at Xinghai Square

Xinghai Square is one of Asia’s largest city plazas. The vast grounds are situated over the bay, with sculptures and fountains scattered in the open spaces. By day it’s a hub of activity for walking and flying kites, and at night glitzy lighting and music create wonderland festivities.

2. Stroll along Binhai Road’s Coastal Wooden Paths

Binhai Road stretches around the dramatic coast of Dalian (more than 30 kilometers). Walkways and suspension bridges and viewing points on the tops of the cliffs provide the sea view at all times. Some are thronged, but seclusion is rewarded at quieter places with waves pounding beneath.

3. Dive into Sea Life at Tiger Beach (Laohutan)

Tiger Beach Ocean Park has both outdoor displays and aquariums. The best part is going through glass walkways accompanied by multicolored fish. Sea lions, penguins, and the Polar Museum add diversity to make it a place family-friendly and suitable for curious travelers too.

4. Get away to Golden Pebble Beach (Jinshitan)

Golden sands meet strange rock formations that have taken centuries to shape at Jinshitan Scenic Area. Geological parks are connected by paths, and beaches invite barefoot walking. The natural “turtle†and “dinosaur†rocks give this beach holiday a playful touch and an interesting photo shoot.

5. Take a Step back in Time at Dongjiguan Mountain & Fort

Wartime history is well-preserved at Dongjiguan Mountain in Lushun. The North Fort still has ancient cannons and watchtower posts reminding of the battles led here. The landscape of the hills is breathtaking and so is the feeling that one gets when one is found on top of the hill amidst the echoes of the Russo-Japanese War.

6. Be Awed by the Beauty of Zhongshan Square

The Zhongshan Square of downtown is surrounded with European style constructions created under the occupation of Russia and Japan. Their baroque facades create a colorful circle in contrast to the modern skyline of Dalian. Evening brings music and group dancing, turning the square into the city’s social stage.

7. Unwind at Xinghai Park’s Beach and Coastal Walks

Xinghai Park combines green hills, sandy beach, and a long bridge over the sea. Children play on the beach and strollers take breezy coastal promenades. The atmosphere is laid-back, so it’s among Dalian’s most favorite everyday escapes.

8. Take a Nature Break at Dalian Forest Zoo

The Forest Zoo encompasses wooded hillside. Ample enclosures and cableway connecting zones provide bizarre mix of wildlife stopover and mountain trek. It’s a pleasant, green haven which serves as complement to city’s urban and sea vibes.

9. Uncover Hidden Café Hills and Sea Views

Above Fisherman’s Wharf, hilltop cafes are hidden in curving roads. One of the most popular is CAAN, with panoramic sea vistas from its promontory. Access is a climb uphill, but sundown coffee is like finding yourself at a local secret Dalian.

10. Enjoy the Nightlife and Local Spirit

At night, Dalian transforms. There are neon lights on the streets with pedestrians, seafood grills are sizzling, and open areas are filled with music and dancing. The lovers stroll the boardwalks at the beach and this effort goes to show that the city is not any dead at night other than it is in the daytime.

Dalian is not only a sea resort, but a city, a blend of sea winds, strata of history and a light-hearted contemporary charm in a single unforgettable package. It is in the giant squares and the vistas along the cliffside, in the forts with the battle marks upon them, in the cafes with the indefinite sunsets, in all. So bring your bags and leave room for wonder because Dalian can catch you off guard—one wave, one light, one sublime moment at a time.
